Deneen Underwood

Deneen Underwood is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Point Park University with degrees in Visual Communications and Visual Arts and Design. She completed post-baccalaureate courses in Art History at San Diego State University. Deneen created an award-winning multi-cultural art department and Shakespeare program at College Center Montessori School in La Mesa, CA. Additional educator experience includes visual communications adjunct professor at ITT Technical Institute and after-school/summer art programs at the Boys and Girls Club of Carnegie and Rosslyn Farms Community Center. Deneen creates artwork using various mediums including: pencil, color pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, fabric, and photography. As a graphic designer she has won four PSAB Communications Contest awards on behalf of the Borough of Carnegie for a Census Outreach Animation with Jr Council, Parking Guide, Newsletter, and website. Photography awards include 1st place in the National Recreation Trail Photo Contest Urban Trail Category and 2nd place in the Pennsylvania Resources Council Lens on Litter Photography Competition. As an instructor, her students received awards from multiple contests including: Scholastic Books Magic School Bus Create a Book Cover, Helix Water District Poster Contest, Los Angeles Metropolitan Water District Calendar, Del Mar Fair Best of Schools K-6 Exhibit, and the San Diego Museum of Art Biennial Young Art Exhibition.
