At Arc Human Services, your privacy is important to us. Our Notice of Privacy Practice explains how we use and protect any personal or health information you may share with us.
How We Use Your Health Information
We use and share your health information only when needed to provide the people we support with care. This may include:
- We share information with doctors, nurses, and others helping with your care.
- We use your information to improve our support and contact you when needed.
- We use your information to bill your health insurance or other programs.
- We may share information to prevent disease, report safety issues, or stop abuse.
- We must share certain information when required by law, including for public health and safety.
- Your information may be used for health studies.
- We may share health information with organ donor programs or funeral services.
- We may share information for workers’ compensation, law enforcement, or national security.
- If required by a judge, we may need to share your health information.
We will NOT share your health information to punish or investigate anyone for seeking legal reproductive health care.

- Tell us how you want us to reach you (e.g., by calling your cell phone instead of your home phone).
- Ask for a list of who we shared your health details with.
- Ask us not to share certain information, but we may not always be able to agree.
- Ask for a paper copy of this privacy notice anytime.
- Choose someone to act for you, including a guardian or medical power of attorney, who can make decisions for you.
- If you think your privacy was violated, you can file a complaint by calling 724-222-6955 or reporting to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We will not punish you for doing this.
- Change your mind by telling us in writing if you change the permissions you’ve given us to share information.

- Follow the rules in this notice and give you a copy.
- Only use or share your information as described here, unless you give us written permission.

Communication Preferences & SMS Messaging
At Arc Human Services, we sometimes send text messages and emails to help with scheduling, service updates, and other important information. We will secure your verbal authorization before we send any text messages to you by asking “Do you agree to receive email and text messages from Arc Human Services (AHS) and our employees?” If you don’t want to agree, you can say ‘NO’ and we will communicate with you through the method of your choice. If you agree to receive text messages (SMS) or emails from Arc Human Services and our partner organizations, here’s what you need to know:
- How often we send messages may change.
- If you get text messages, your phone company may charge you fees for data or messages.
- We will never share your information with other companies for advertising.
- You can stop messages anytime by texting “STOP” to stop getting text messages, OR you can email us at info@archumanservices.org to change your email or text settings.
